Results from a recent survey conducted by the Texas American Federation of Teachers forecast significant changes based on the state’s $5.4 billion cut to education for the current biennium.
Superintendents from 241 districts – just under a quarter of the state’s public school districts – stated in the Texas AFT survey that last year’s legislative cuts are having a significant impact on such things as classroom size, classroom instruction, teacher morale and retention and help for struggling students.
