Santo student wins area spelling bee, advances to regional competition

Skye Barak’s name might have been listed second, alphabetically, for Wednesday’s Area 21 Spelling Bee, but the Santo Junior High student’s name ended up first on the list after she successfully spelled “caboose” followed by “academy” for the win.

Students from Santo, Gordon and Mineral Wells ISDs competed in the local challenge, sponsored by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
