Candidates first to throw their hats in the election ring after filings for open city council, school board seats began Monday

Though the terms of three council members expire this year, candidates for one seat have thrown their hats into the ring as of Wednesday afternoon.

Filing for all open seats began Monday and continues through March 5.

Incumbent Mayor Mike Allen signed papers to file for re-election Wednesday morning, two days after rival and sitting Place 1 councilman-at-large Rick Bennett officially began his campaign.
