Dozens of community leaders and concerned citizens attended a presentation Monday afternoon at Linkfield Services to learn about the proposed creation of a Children’s Advocacy Center in Palo Pinto County.
Ada McCloud, program specialist for Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas Inc., led the program by detailing what a CAC provides to a community.
Dealing primarily with young victims of sexual abuse, she said centers provide child-sensitive investigation, intervention and therapeutic services for abused children.
The program’s goal is twofold, she said, explaining advocates seek to minimize the re-victimization of abused children while facilitating the prosecution of perpetrators.
