PERRIN – On what would have been her 22nd birthday, family and friends of Krishonda Townsend will honor her memory with a tree-planting ceremony tonight at Perrin High School.
Townsend, a graduate of Perrin High, was reported missing July 5, 2010, and her remains were found in a wooded area in the southwest part of Mineral Wells last October.
Her aunt, Lena Rittenbury, said she planned the ceremony not just as a birthday remembrance but as a lasting tribute to her life.
The ceremony itself will be fairly short, Rittenbury noted, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
In the time since her initial disappearance, she said Townsend’s family has felt the need to commemorate significant dates, such as her birthday and the day she went missing, adding she hopes a living tree will help reduce that pressure.
