PALO PINTO – Applause broke out in Palo Pinto County Commissioners Court Monday as commissioners and attendees heard Public Works Director David McDonald announce that the courthouse elevator passed inspection and is operating once more.
The elevator has been out since about mid-May, when state inspectors tested the system and found a hole in the outer casing for the hydraulic lift system.
McDonald said Longhorn Elevator out of Haltom City, working under a public safety emergency, repaired and replaced the system casing and piston-like cylinder inside the casing. They also placed the equipment in PVC to protect it from rusting. He said they were working with extracting and replacing the equipment that was in a hole was about 38 feet underground.
Mostly working on weekends, McDonald said Longhorn Elevator finished within the promised time period.
