After considering several recommendations, city council members voted 4-2 to approve a noise ordinance at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Though the ordinance regulates noise in all parts of the city, council focused solely on mixed-use zoning districts, which have sparked heated debates locally over what some downtown residents feel is excessive noise pollution.
Deliberation among the city’s legislative body resulted in a compromise between Mineral Wells Police Chief Dean Sullivan’s original proposal and amendments suggested by the Planning and Zoning Commission last month.
