Tea Party-backed Republican Ted Cruz is well on his way to victory in the Texas U.S. Senate race, as is Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway.
Cruz in early returns was capturing 60 percent of the vote. Democrat Paul Sadler had 38 percent, with Libertarian John Jay Myers and Green Party candidate David Collins far behind. This is the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Conaway, who represents the 11th congressional district in Texas, including Palo Pinto County, was easily beating Democratic challenger Jim Riley and Libertarian Scott Ballard with 82 percent of the early vote across the district.
As of 7:40 p.m. no returns were posted for Palo Pinto County.
