Time to get festive – the Crazy way

33rd Crazy Water Festival gets under way today before Saturday’s main activities

The 33rd Annual Crazy Water Festival will get off to a running start – literally – Saturday morning.

The festival gates don’t open till 9 a.m. But a pack of 5K runners will get things kick started at 8 a.m.

For the third year, the festival will take place in the streets surrounding Famous Water Company on N.W. 6th Street one block west of U.S. Highway 180. More than 100 vendors are signed up, and there will be lots of food, refreshments, games, activities, the car/truck/bike show and three stages of music.

And don’t let a threat of thunderstorms give you second thoughts about going – just be sure you get there early. The current chance of storms on Saturday are, as of this writing, predicted to arrive late in the afternoon or evening. If so, they could affect the end of the festival, which will shut down at 6 p.m. Rain fell the last hour of the festival last year, but by then an estimated 10,000 people had already passed through the festival gates.
