Driver airlifted following crash

By CHRIS AGEE

An AirEvac air ambulance landed in the yard of a residence in the 8400 block of U.S. Highway 180 West Wednesday morning to transport the only occupant involved in a single-vehicle crash.

Mineral Wells Fire and EMS personnel worked to free the female driver from her vehicle after she left the roadway, ran through a fence, and came to rest against a large tree.

"She came off the side of the road and hit her brakes," said Vicky Lyons, who was driving behind the vehicle involved in the crash.

Lyons explained the vehicle was not traveling at an excessive speed, indicating she estimated the driver was going under the posted 70 miles per hour speed limit on the highway.

As of the Index's deadline Wednesday, the Department of Public Safety could not release any additional information about the crash or the condition of the driver.
