GARNER – Garner ISD will serve up a new course this year – that is, it will add free breakfast in the classroom for every student.
The GISD board gave the green light to the new program, which will mean all students have the opportunity to start the day with a meal at no cost to them.
Even though free and reduced-price breakfasts have been offered before school in the past, Garner Superintendent Marion Ferguson hopes that “making it available to students who would have to pay for it before,” will make a difference.
Breakfast will take place in the classroom for students in grades four and up, while students in pre-kindergarten through third grades will eat their free breakfast in the cafeteria.
