Administrators at the Weatherford College Education Center in Mineral Wells stopped short of a full lockdown in response to an unspecified threat in the area Friday afternoon.
"This is what we're doing in response to what is going on at the Fort Wolters center," a spokesperson said, explaining the measure was enacted only to prevent a potential threat to enter the school.
"We're not actually locking down our campus, per se," she added. "We're allowing students and personnel to come and go as they want to."
As of Friday afternoon, Weatherford College and Mineral Wells police could not release details indicating the nature of the threat, but sources from both entities confirmed no one was ever in any real danger during the period of increased security.
