A four decades-long tradition once again welcomed Mineral Wells ISD and area teachers back to school on their first official work day.
Monday’s Mineral Wells Merchant’s Association breakfast gave public school employees a welcoming and tasty start to the 2012-13 school year, by feeding them and handing out door prizes and giveaways from area businesses.
The annual breakfast, now held at Mineral Wells High School, began in 1971 with coffee and donuts provided by First National Bank, according to retired teacher and breakfast organizer Mary Motley. From there the breakfast grew, first in the hands of the Mineral Wells Downtown Merchants’ Association, which passed the baton to the Mineral Wells Merchants’ Association.
