Taylor Tomerlin, a 2012 Mineral Wells High School graduate who suffers from Duchene’s Muscular Dystrophy, said his first encounter with a Texas Rangers baseball star was about two years ago.
Rangers Manager Ron Washington was visiting a patient in the same hospital as Tomerlin and learned the teen, then serving as the MWHS football manager, was nearby.
“He said, ‘If you’re ever at a Rangers game, hit me up,’” said Tomerlin’s mother, Tonya Lilienthal.
“We hit it off,” Tomerlin said of his visit with Washington, explaining camera crews captured the moment, which was broadcast on Fox 4 News and the Texas Rangers website.
