Semi-pro football coming to town

Bullets moving from W’ford to Ram Stadium for 2013 season; tryouts in November

Ram Stadium is about to get semi tough.

On Tuesday night, Mineral Wells ISD trustees approved a request from the Weatherford Bullets to move their home field and games to Ram Stadium.

Dr. Gail Haterius said football personnel examined the costs and said this would and not be a burden on the athletic department.

The district will charge the team $1,000 per game. In addition, the district will charge $100 per game for personnel MWISD will furnish including gate keeper, clock keeper and 40-second clock keeper. Haterius noted that the cost of lighting in Ram Stadium is about $20 per hour and games last up to three-and-a-half hours.

The Bullets, which will drop “Weatherford” from their name, is a semi-pro football team playing in the Texas United Football League, according to trustee Scott Aaron, who also plays for the team. Aaron abstained from voting, but all other trustees voted unanimously to accept the Bullets’ proposal.
