• SANDY TYE BENEFIT – Sandy Tye has been a longtime member of Poor Boor Riding Club and resident of Palo Pinto County. She is Grandma Sandy to the kids at the club and most of the big kids too. Sandy is the type of person that will help anyone she can and she has loaned her horse to people to ride at the playday so they can enjoy horses as much as she does. Sandy has served as an officer of the club for many years and does everything she can to help the club continue.
Sandy has become ill with infections in both knees after knee replacement surgeries. The infections have spread to other areas. While the doctors at PPGH are working to get the infections under control, Sandy will have a long road to recovery. She has mounting medical bills and she is looking at months of hospitalization and rehab to recover. The Poor Boy Riding Club will be hosting a 4D Barrel Race on Sunday. Feb. 10, 2013, at the Poor Boy Riding Club Arena, 1482 Old Millsap Hwy, Mineral Wells. Expos will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. $4 each or 5 for $15. Open class will begin at 2:30 pm.There will also be concessions and a Silent Auction. Donation of Silent Auction items is appreciated.Rain Date is Feb. 24, 2013. • KAREN HILL DENNY BENEFIT – There will be a benefit for Karen Hill Denny Saturday, March 2, at the American Legion in Mineral Wells. Time is 2 p.m.-10 p.m. $5 at the door. BBQ pork sandwich and chips $7 all day. Carry-out available. Live auctions set for 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Silent auction 2-8 p.m. Band performances all day by 50 Thick, Big River, Cody Robbins Band, Snuff Garrett and more. • MCGINNIS BENEFIT – A benefit for JR McGinnis to help with final expenses is set for Sunday, March 10, at the Brazos Lounge. Remembrance ride starts at noon. $15 entry per bike (includes entry to benefit). Admission at the door is $5. Live bands and karaoke start at 2 p.m. Food served at 3 p.m. $8 a plate. Pool tournament starts at 7 p.m. 50/50 drawing, auctions throughout the event. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
