Gym offers improved equipment & landscaping

By CHRIS AGEE

Despite a rainy week, movers were able to relocate Anytime Fitness from its former location to a much larger building on the opposite side of U.S. Highway 180 off Garrett Morris Parkway.

The sign was still being erected Thursday morning, but members were inside making use of some new fitness machines.

Rebekah DaVault, who owns the gym with her husband, James, said she is excited about the possibilities the new space will create.

She said the move provides an opportunity to offer additional classes and updated equipment.

"We needed to expand," she said. "We want to help the people of Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County get healthy."

She said the change is indicative of Anytime Fitness' commitment to "keep it challenging for people," she added. "If you keep doing the same things you've been doing, you'll get the same results."

The Silver Sneakers program, designed for older members, and the Latin-themed aerobics program Zumba Fitness are among the new classes being offered at the new location, she said.

In addition to the benefits to members, DaVault said the repurposed building and surrounding property will also add to the overall appearance of the community.

She said the area's prior appearance struck her as industrial and did not adequately welcome visitors to Mineral Wells.

"Since I've been in town, that fence out there didn't look inviting," she explained, adding new landscaping and the beautification of the building itself will revitalize the property, making it more appealing to passersby.
