Homeowner arrested after reporting burglary

By CHRIS AGEE

When a resident in the 1300 block of S.E. 20th Street called police recently to report a residential burglary, it was he, not the intruder, who found himself in the back seat of a patrol car.

According to a Mineral Wells Police spokesperson, Dillon Floyd Baker, 20, of Mineral Wells, filed a report alleging an individual kicked open the front door of his residence and engaged in a physical confrontation with him. The alleged suspect was no longer at the scene when officers arrived.

Police noticed the odor of marijuana in the residence, reports state, and obtained consent to search the premises.

Upon the completion of their investigation, officers had located three packages of a synthetic drug commonly referred to as "K2."

Police placed Baker in custody, arresting him on the scene. He faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

According to county records, Baker was released Thursday after posting $1,500 bond.
