Rider unsure what caused his motorcycle to crash

By CHRIS AGEE

Mineral Wells Police and EMS responded to a single-vehicle crash Sunday in the 2500 block of U.S. Highway 180 East.

According to reports, Robert William Martinez, 21, of Millsap, was driving his 1993 Harley-Davidson motorcycle around 3:43 p.m. when the incident occurred.

The reporting officer indicated Martinez refused transportation to the hospital and received treatment at the scene from emergency crews.

After interviewing the rider, police reported he was traveling north on S.E. 25th Avenue, but were unable to discern much more additional information.

Reports show Martinez could not remember what happened to cause the crash which left the motorcycle overturned in the median.

Martinez told police he did not recall anything between driving the motorcycle and opening his eyes after the crash.

Reports show the roadway was dry and visibility was clear at the time of the crash.

Police could not identify any witnesses, and the rider of an accompanying motorcycle could not provide any further information.

Martinez said he did not believe he was hit by another vehicle, but could not definitively say he wasn't.

According to reports, the motorcycle was not towed from the scene, but did sustain damage to the left side.

Police reported Martinez was not wearing a safety helmet prior to the crash.
