A local organization dedicated to serving the area’s elderly is trying to make sure those living on a fixed income do not have to choose between cooling their homes and purchasing necessities.
According to Sandra Caldwell of Meals on Wheels of Palo Pinto County, many in the community are faced with that choice.
“Most of them are in a pretty tight situation,” she said. “We have a lot of them that live like that. They try to live without their air conditioner because of the expense of the utilities.”
