Aledo teen indicted on capital murder, murder charges

If convicted, Evans faces punishment of five to 99 years or life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

The Parker County Grand Jury on Friday returned an indictment charging Jacob Ryan Evans, 17, of Aledo, with one count of capital murder and two counts of murder in the Oct. 4 slayings of his mother Jami Evans and sister Mallory Evans.

If convicted of the capital murder charge, Evans will not face the death penalty due to a United States Supreme Court ruling in 2005 which held that execution is an unconstitutional penalty for convicted capital murderers who were under 18 years of age at the time of the offense.

If convicted, Evans faces punishment of five to 99 years or life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

The case was randomly assigned to the 415th Judicial District Court.  It is expected that arraignment will take place in January.
