And the winners are…

‘Shop Local and Win!’ entries represent over $500,000 in purchases

Three local spenders won a total of $2,750 at the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce “Shop Local and Win!” program.

The campaign started Nov. 1 and ended at noon on Dec. 24 with a drawing.

The winners get a shopping spree at their choice of 51 participating businesses. To be eligible, shoppers had to spend $300 at any combination of merchants. The $1,500 grand-prize went to Linda Stephen, of Bryan, Texas. Mineral Wells resident Jim Davis took the $750 shopping-spree prize and Tabitha Cienega, also of Mineral Wells, won the $500 prize.

“The Chamber logged more than half a million dollars in entries from 51 participating merchants: $578,700 to be exact,” said Chamber Executive Director Beth Watson. “We are looking at tweaks for next year to continue to make Shop Local and Win! a strong driver of business for our local merchants, and fun for customers.”

“We had a lot of fun with our Shop Local and Win! Merchant of the Week this year as well, giving out double the recognitions over last year,” she added.

Merchants of the Week, during the 7-1/2 week campaign were: Walgreen's, Garrett Jewelry & Loan, Freeze Carpets, Bronze Goddess, Shotgun's Barbecue, The Bead Barn, Metro Discount Foods, Save A Lot Food Store, Eagle Sound, Sutherlands, Jumpin' for Joy and Taco Bell.

“We are grateful to our sponsors,” Watson said, which include, “Our first-ever underwriter Top Shelf Liquor Warehouse, as well as Texas Farm Bureau Insurance and Progressive Waste Solutions.”
