Recognizing a half century of providing the printing and office needs of Mineral Wells, locals showed up at Bennett’s Office Supply and Equipment Friday afternoon to celebrate the milestone.
Bill Bennett, who founded the company in 1962 with his wife, Carline, said he was working for Stafford-Lowden in Fort Worth, the third largest printer in Texas, before receiving a fortuitous call from his brother-in-law suggesting Mineral Wells had a need for a printing company.
“I came over and we visited with several people and they thought it would be a good idea,” Bennett said, explaining he and his wife established a print shop at 400 North Oak Avenue, the current site of Bennett’s Office Supply.
The couple branched out in 1970, he said, when they bought an existing office supply shop in Mineral Wells.
