Six Mineral Wells police officers were on hand Thursday morning to monitor arriving students at Mineral Wells High School following a threat of violence the previous day.
According to Mineral Wells ISD Superintendent Gail Haterius, an altercation on a school bus Wednesday afternoon prompted the action.
“The principal was trying to be proactive,” she said.
A MWPD source confirmed “an altercation between an Hispanic male and a white male” occurred Wednesday.
The incident culminated with the Hispanic student threatening a group assault against the white student, which he said would take place Thursday, police stated.
In response to the possibility of violence, a police spokesperson explained officers were dispatched to the school Thursday morning, noting they were “just there as a deterrent.”
