Mineral Wells ISD trustees Tuesday approved a 2013 property tax rate of $1.29 per $100 taxable value, the same as the current year’s rate.
Whether a property owner will pay more or less in district property taxes will depend on any change in the property’s valuation or taxation status.
Of the total rate $1.04 will fund maintenance and operations. This is the highest amount a district can authorize without going to the voters with a tax ratification election.
The rate also includes a debt-service tax rate of 25.639 cents. This helps continue paying off the bond for Ram Stadium and the gymnasium and classrooms at Mineral Wells Junior High, which voters approved in 2006.
MWISD will have a second budget workshop on Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. Then on Aug. 28, at 6 p.m., trustees will hold a public meeting to discuss the 2012-13 budget and the 2012 proposed tax rate and will approve any amendments to the 2011-12 budget.
