José Luis Ramos, 40, remained in Palo Pinto County jail Monday, charged with murder after a fatal stabbing Friday afternoon.
Palo Pinto County sheriff’s records show his bond was set at $500,000.
According to eyewitness accounts, Damon Desdunes, 27, stopped his vehicle in the 4300 block of U.S. Highway 180 East around 2:40 p.m. Friday after being pursued by Ramos.
Exiting his vehicle with a baseball bat, reports indicate Desdunes dropped his weapon upon discovering Ramos was carrying a knife.
Following a brief altercation, Ramos reportedly stabbed Desdunes twice – once in the arm and once in the heart.
Desdunes was rushed to Palo Pinto General Hospital, where he died a short time later, authorities confirmed.
According to Precinct 5 Constable Gary Morris, Ramos remained on the scene after the incident, noting he parked his vehicle in an adjacent lot and was sitting on the tailgate when he arrested him.
