A winning season

A little friendly competition is good, fun

Have you ever taken a moment to count all the shows on TV that are based on competition?  Each week, contestants on dozens of programs vie for prizes in cooking, cupcake decorating, fashion or interior design, movie make-up, survival skills, weight loss, dancing and more.

People love competition, and our Senior Center participants are no exception. Coming off a recent spate of contests, I decided to devote today’s column to naming our winners.

  My son is an EMT ambulance driver in Oklahoma City. On Monday he spent hours pulling people, alive and dead, from the rubble of what had been their schools and homes.
