You’d think that girls would be more interested in hairstyles than guys. But in our family it wasn’t my two daughters who were obsessed with hair – it was their three teenage brothers. I was afraid to leave the house for fear of what might greet me on my return.
Once I made a short run to the grocery store, only to find that Jeremy and Jonathan had shaved geometric patterns onto their scalps while I was gone. Another day I arrived home to discover Joshua’s sandy brown curls had been dyed a bright, metallic red.
Now in their 30s, the boys’ hair is mostly gone so their days of stylistic experimentation are over. I hope they enjoyed it while it lasted.
