Monday night we held a volunteer appreciation dinner. It was our way of saying thanks to all the people who have given time and service to the Senior Center during the past year.
The evening’s theme of volunteerism was beautifully embodied by a group of young people who came to serve our honorees. National Honor Society students from Mineral Wells High School acted as waiters and waitresses for our meal. As they distributed plates, refilled drinks and cleared tables, Chad Calcote, Myra Garcia, Mac Harrt, Damon Jaramillo and Kaylen O’Neal were living examples of the same kind of selfless giving that characterized the people attending the dinner. It warmed my heart to witness servant leadership in action across multiple generations.
