At his first elementary school field day, my son Jonathan lined up with his kindergarten class for a 100-yard dash. The pistol barked and Jonathan shot down his lane.
But halfway to the finish line he realized that he was alone. Stopping to look back, he moved his arm in a forward gesture and called to his friends, “Come on, Timmy. Come on, Chanson.” He then waited for them to catch up with him and the whole class loped toward the goal together.
