Wednesday Bible Study Club: Luke's chapter 18 begins with persistent widow parable

By Linda Farmer | Special to the Index

The Mineral Wells Bible Study Club met Jan. 11 at the country club hosted by Yvonne Vaughan.

The club received two new members: Sylvia Hull and Linda Kessler. We were served apple pie and coffee, after which Yvonne opened in prayer. Nikki Murphy then led the group in the study of Luke, Chapter 18.

Luke 18 begins with Jesus teaching the parable of the persistent widow. Nikki says this parable concerns the prayer life of the believer. Jesus tells us that we should pray constantly, without losing heart. He tells of a judge who is unjust and probably has no interest in the needs of this widow. This widow keeps appearing in the judge’s courtroom asking him to protect her from injustice.
