Members of First United Methodist Church announce the appointment of their new pastor, the Rev. Lianne Turner.

Rev. Turner replaces the Rev. Joe Chamness, who accepted another appointment at the first of the year.

Born into a Navy family in Japan, Turner said when the military assigned her father as a recruiter in Dallas they settled in Grand Prairie, where she graduated high school. She took an indirect path to the ministry, first finishing a degree in sociology and English at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and then completing a master’s degree in sociology at Texas A&M University.
