Recently Raf and I went to visit my cousins in Midland. These are first cousins. My mother was an only child, but my father was one of eight children, the only boy, and second from the oldest.

The curious thing about those eight children is that they, altogether, only produced eight children.  So, as Daddy had seven sisters, I grew up with just seven first cousins, three girls and four boys.  Of those eight siblings, none are now alive, and of our eight cousins, only six of us remain, most of whom grew up in the Midland-Odessa area, while three of us grew up away; me in Stephenville and Mineral Wells, and two others in Kansas City.

    Recently a friend of mine and her husband drove to New Hampshire to purchase a summer home. Sunday came and, as they had seen an Anglican church close by, they decided to attend. Instead, they ended up going to a Bible church down the street. As they drove up to the church, she turned to her husband and said, “I surely hope they believe in the same Bible we do!”
