Reflections on bullying

By Sue Seibert | sue_seibert@att.net

I noticed in the paper that there is a new stateside policy, or law, on anti-bullying in the schools. I must say, I am always surprised at the legislation our lawmakers come up with.

Questions: Were there bullies in school when you were there? Were there bullies in school when your parents went? Of course, and there are bullies in life and no amount of legislation is going to change the nature of some human beings!

However, we can do some things that will make a difference. First of all, we can teach our children to take it on the chin. I remember having to do that and, sure, sometimes it really hurts. But, hey, that’s part of life, of growing up, of being successful.

  • Reflections on Patience

I had a person whom I don’t know well at all tell me what an impatient person I am. My goodness, I didn’t realize it showed so much to those who do not know me very well; but, of course, she is right. I am. They say patience is a virtue. It is, but, sadly, it isn’t one of mine.

  • Reflections on My Bible

Instead, they ended up going to a Bible church down the street. As they drove up to the church, she turned to her husband and said, “I surely hope they believe in the same Bible we do!”

  • Reflections on Our Community

There have been several things that have come to mind over the last little bit that I have failed to mention, so I thought I would sort of organize them all into one column.
