Reflections on good recipes

Several of you have inquired about my old cooking column and asked if I would pass along some recipes, so I think I’ll do that today.

Two Sundays ago was our monthly family dinner, and I made one of the casseroles that we’ve used in this family for quite some time. I got it from a friend in Mesquite who had served it at a church covered dish back about 1972. It’s called Taco Treat, and it is truly yummy. It’s great for a hearty family meal, for a church social, or to take to a bereaved friend, and it’s easy to double for the 15 or so family members we have.

    Recently a friend of mine and her husband drove to New Hampshire to purchase a summer home. Sunday came and, as they had seen an Anglican church close by, they decided to attend. Instead, they ended up going to a Bible church down the street. As they drove up to the church, she turned to her husband and said, “I surely hope they believe in the same Bible we do!”
