PERRIN – There will be a booster club meeting Monday, April 23, in the Perrin High School gym. Election of officers will be completed at this time.

Booster club is an organization formed to support their local teams by coordinating events and by contribution of money. Perrin booster club raises money for all the sports programs of the school, from softball to basketball and other sports in between, through selling of sportswear and other fundraisers during the year. All interested in the community are invited to attend.

  Claude Renfro, 83, of Weatherford passed away Thursday, April 11. The service was last Monday at Bluebonnet Hills.

  It’s time to lose an hour of sleep; on Sunday, Daylight Saving Time begins, so turn your clocks forward one hour Saturday night, or you’ll be late for Sunday services.

  The Senior Driver Safety class will be held on Thursday, March 7, at the Jacksboro Senior Citizens building in Jacksboro. The class will begin at 8 a.m. and go until noon. To enroll or for more information, call Doris King at (940) 567-5431.

  Congratulations to Jack County Spelling Bee winner Kent Withaeger. Kent is in sixth grade at Perrin-Whitt Elementary. He won the Jack County spelling bee on Wednesday, Feb. 13, by spelling the word “pretzel.” Kent will represent Jack County on March 20 at the Regional Spelling Bee, held at Texas Christian University.

  Perrin-Whitt Consolidated ISD will have six teams competing in the Trinity Valley North Central Regional DI Tournament on March 2 at Marcus High School, in Flower Mound, Texas.

  The varsity basketball girls will be going on to the playoffs. I’m not sure when or where they will be playing. Their final regular game will be Tuesday, at Poolville. The boy’s varsity will play their last game Feb. 8 at Ranger.

  Be aware that the Donkey Basketball game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 2, in the Perrin High School Gym. Tickets on sale now; contact the high school office or any senior. Tickets are $6 each and children under 5 FREE. If you wait until the 2nd, tickets will be $8 at the gate.
