Season in Perrin for DI, softball, baseball, spring break and more

Congratulations to Jack County Spelling Bee winner Kent Withaeger. Kent is in sixth grade at Perrin-Whitt Elementary. He won the Jack County spelling bee on Wednesday, Feb. 13, by spelling the word “pretzel.” Kent will represent Jack County on March 20 at the Regional Spelling Bee, held at Texas Christian University.

Perrin-Whitt will have six teams competing in the TVNC Regional DI Tournament on March 2.

The Senior Driver Safety class will be held on Thursday, March 7, at the Jacksboro Senior Citizens building in Jacksboro. The class will begin at 8 a.m. and go until noon. To enroll or for more information, call Doris King at (940) 567-5431.

There will be a 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration for Watt and Bertha Tucker at the First Baptist church. Everyone is invited to come and visit with Watt and Bertha on Saturday, March 9, 2-4 p.m. No gifts please and come in casual dress.

In school news:

• The Lady Pirate’s softball team will play at home Tuesday against Alvord, with the game beginning at 7 p.m.

• The Pirate baseball game is also on Tuesday at Ranger, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

• The Perrin Softball Tournament is Thursday through Saturday, here at the Lady Pirate’s field.

• The Pirate baseball team will play in the Poolville Tournament Thursday through Saturday.

• Preschool library time will be the second Wednesday of each month. Every month, 10-11 a.m, there will be story time in the school library. The next scheduled time is March 13. For more information, see B. J. Cox in the library.

• Spring break for the Perrin-Whitt Consolidated ISD is March 11-15.

Thought for the week: The best way to lose weight is to eat all you want of everything you don’t like.

Graham: many proud family members
Graham Dennis Stowell was born April 9 at 7:54 a.m. at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lonetree, Colo. Graham weighed 5 lbs. 11 oz. and was 18.5” long. His parents are Dennis and Sherri-Jo (Keener) Stowell of Aurora, Colo. Sherri-Jo is originally from Perrin.

Claude Renfro, 83, of Weatherford passed away Thursday, April 11. The service was last Monday at Bluebonnet Hills.

The varsity basketball girls will be going on to the playoffs. I’m not sure when or where they will be playing. Their final regular game will be Tuesday, at Poolville. The boy’s varsity will play their last game Feb. 8 at Ranger.
