Local churches gear up for VBS, special trips

PERRIN – We received about one-half inch of rain Monday night and more Thursday. There was a lot of wind, but haven’t heard of anyone having any damage.

Perrin Advent Christian Church VBS is Sunday, June 17, to Thursday, June 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m. They will be learning about Ancient Babylon and will meet Daniel and his friends, hearing about Daniel’s courage during his captivity.

First Baptist Church has set its VBS Sunday, July 15, through Thursday, July 19, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Their theme is “Sky,” which will emphasize evidences of God in every day occurrences like a beautiful rainbow, a cooling summer rain, etc. The classes are for pre-K through sixth grade.

• Graham: many proud family members

  Graham Dennis Stowell was born April 9 at 7:54 a.m. at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lonetree, Colo. Graham weighed 5 lbs. 11 oz. and was 18.5” long. His parents are Dennis and Sherri-Jo (Keener) Stowell of Aurora, Colo. Sherri-Jo is originally from Perrin.

  Claude Renfro, 83, of Weatherford passed away Thursday, April 11. The service was last Monday at Bluebonnet Hills.

  Congratulations to Jack County Spelling Bee winner Kent Withaeger. Kent is in sixth grade at Perrin-Whitt Elementary. He won the Jack County spelling bee on Wednesday, Feb. 13, by spelling the word “pretzel.” Kent will represent Jack County on March 20 at the Regional Spelling Bee, held at Texas Christian University.

  The varsity basketball girls will be going on to the playoffs. I’m not sure when or where they will be playing. Their final regular game will be Tuesday, at Poolville. The boy’s varsity will play their last game Feb. 8 at Ranger.
