Holiday made for enjoyable family visits

By Kay Mealio | kaymealio@embarqmail.com

PERRIN – I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend.

We had an enjoyable time with family visiting and good eats. Last Saturday, Fred’s brother, Ed Mealio, from Dallas, came out to go dove hunting. I don’t think the dove were in any jeopardy! My sister Jane Cramer, from Granbury, also came.

After their morning out, Fred fixed hot dogs on the grill. Jo, Jeff and Jonathan Brumfield came down with their two exchange students Suzy, from Ecuador, and Fran, from China. Becky, Scott, Haylee and Kaycee Fowler also came. We showed our exchange students a real American Labor Day meal.

That Friday, Fred had smoked a bacon bomb (if you want the recipe, just contact me) we took to our fellowship meal at church for First Sunday. Fred told everyone that he found an armadillo on the side of the road and covered it in strips of bacon and smoked it. Some were looking at it, a little bit leery, but it really did taste good and the meat was ground pork mixed with beef and sausage. We were stuffed when we got home and everyone took naps.
