Photo was music to reader's eyes

Dear Editor,

During this time of the year when high school football becomes a religion and many other school activities are relegated to a lesser status, there’s a glimmer of hope for the many talented students who are on the football field, but who don’t play football.

Kudos to you for publishing the very nice photo of Santo’s band beau and sweetheart in last Tuesday’s (Nov. 8) newspaper – in color and on the front page! These kids, and hundreds just like them, practice for hours on and off the field, but they get very little recognition.

I’ve been an Index subscriber for more than 30 years. It’s not often that I express my feelings about/to the news media, but I feel compelled to say “job well done” for caring enough to take this photo!

Several attempts have been made to contact someone in city administration/inspections, trying to get results in a matter which, I believe, affects the well-being of our citizens and our young children. To date, the problems have not been addressed nor rectified.
