Dear Editor:

The Gordon Community Food Pantry has had a great year with lots of help from the volunteers. For 2012 we have served from 45 to 68 families a month. The Food Bank handed out toys to each of the children in all the families and house hold items for the ones that live alone. No child went with out stocking stuffers or toys this Christmas.

The Gordon Community Food Pantry gave out 33,377 LB of food with a Market Value of $44,312.43 we made 20 trips to the Tarrant Area Food Bank for the food.

Thanks to Jim Schur for letting us use his cargo trailer. A big thank you to all the drivers who has gotten up so early to make the early appointments.

As some of you may know when we started the food bank in 2009 as a Community Food Pantry we only had maybe 24 families each month. Now that times are a lot harder on families we have more using it. The Gordon Community Food Pantry serves 6 different zip codes. What a blessing it is to be able to help so many families to help take some of the stress off the parents.

This being said we are now in need of a Larger Building in Gordon for this great cause. I ask you to please pray for this to happen in 2013 so people don't have to stand out in the weather to receive food.
