Elvis Leroy Bunnell

MINERAL WELLS — Elvis Leroy Bunnell, 87, of Mineral Wells, died Monday, May 3, 2010, in Mineral Wells.

Service is 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Liberty Baptist Church. Reverends Rbie Threatt, Jimmy Lively and Bob Branch will officiate. Burial will be in the Sturdivant Cemetery with Elvis Lee, Brandon and Jonathan Bunnell, Kevin Hobbs, Gregory Pahl and Jay Davis serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Bunnell was born June 14, 1922, in Jack County, Texas. He was the son of J. Elmer and Hattie Myrtle Childress Bunnell. One of his proudest honors in his life was serving his country in the U.S. Army as a veteran of World War II. He moved to Mineral Wells in 1968. He dedicated his life’s work to truck driving, working for Northridge Oil Co. during the 1970s until his retirement in the mid 1980s.

He was a charter member of the Liberty Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He loved his Lord and Savior and spent his last days proclaiming the message of salvation to all who entered the doors of the Mineral Wells Health and Rehab Center. He also enjoyed nothing more than beating anyone he could in a lively game of Forty-Two.

He leaves behind his sons, Carroll Bunnell, of Dallas, Elvis Ray Bunnell, of Mineral Wells, and Robert and wife, Pat, Bunnell, also of Mineral Wells. He leaves one daughter, Bonnie Bunnell Hoke and her husband, Ray, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Elvis Lee, Bridgette, Kevin Hobbs, Brandon, Jonathan, Emily, Robert Philip and Bailey; great-grandchildren, Jaydin, Kaydin and Braylee; sister, Wilma Phillips, of Weatherford; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Monroe Bunnell; and his wife of 50 years, Imogene Bunnell.
