Margaret Fay Stewart

Margaret Fay Stewart, 72, of Frisco, passed away on Dec. 31, 2012. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio; the daughter of Paul William and Margaret (Billings) Chapman.

Fay had many abilities and gifts throughout her life; her most prized was her family; her life revolved around family and friends. She had many friends because of her outgoing personality and all the community activities she was involved in.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but spent most of her youth in North Texas and Oklahoma. She was a 1957 graduate of Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Okla., and also attended Oklahoma State University and Texas Tech University. She served and worked in the community for many years through her catering business and her community service activities. She loved to cook and this was a way to connect with her family and friends, both immediate and extended; the hospitality, food and love was too much to resist.

In 1980 she was honored as one of Palo Pinto County’s Women of the Year and also honored as Mother of the Year in 1982 by the Mineral Wells Care Center for her contribution to the community and also her devotion to her children. She was named as President of the Mineral Wells Chamber of Commerce (the first woman ever elected to this position) in 1981, was one of the founding members of the Mineral Wells Woman’s Club and a former committee chairwomen for the Mineral Wells Study Club helping to lead the annual “Tasting Tea” event.

She was also a longstanding member of the First Presbyterian Church - Mineral Wells and more recently attended First United Methodist Church of Frisco. She was steadfast in her Christian faith and her love of the Lord.

Fay leaves behind her momma, Margaret Chapman; sons, Rob Stewart and wife Vicki, and Paul (Bill) Stewart and wife Kim; grandchildren Christi, Samantha, Heath and Matthew Stewart; brother, Dr. Billings Chapman and wife Dixie along with a niece, several nephews and numerous other extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daddy Paul William Chapman.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday Jan. 4 at First United Methodist Church in Frisco. A visitation will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells, followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. - Woodland Park Cemetery.
