Frances Lee Hawkins Knowles, 91, died Jan. 21, 2012, in a Mineral Wells nursing home.
Service is 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel with Rev. David Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Perrin Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
She was born March 22, 1920, to William and Rachael Hawkins near Prosper, Texas, in Denton County, one of six children. Frances met and married Vanis Lee Knowles on March 30, 1940. They had three children: Wilburn Knowles, Edith Knowles Cauto and Janice Knowles Busby. Frances was a stay-at-home mom. She loved to cook, garden and listen to country and gospel music. In 2007, Frances’ and Vanis’ health started to fail and they moved to Palo Pinto Nursing and Rehab Center. Frances helped care for Vanis until he died October 2011. She missed Vanis every day and would tell you he had gone to be with Jesus. Frances’ health failed in December but she continued to talk about family and Vanis, and would want you to stay and visit. She always had a smile on her face and would hold your hand.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers; and one sister.
