GORDON – Dwaine Milford Petty Sr., 84, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at his home in Gordon.
Service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the First United Methodist Church in Gordon, with Star Bowen officiating. Interment will follow in the New Gordon Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn.
Dwaine was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Gillham, Ark. to Ben and Exie (Brewer) Petty, where he graduated from high school. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Lillie Petty in Grapevine, Texas, on April 4, 1980. Dwaine owned and operated Basco Aluminum Company. He loved to hunt, fish and work with horses.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Petty; son, Dwaine Milford Petty Jr; daughter, Sarah E. VanDeren; brother, Wilburn Petty; four sisters, June Jackson, Vern English, Marie McGraw and Sindy Vodron; stepchildren, Colby Clark and Sherri Morton; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family request memorials be made to Texas Cowboys Against Cancer.
