CONROE – Allen Dale Brown, 77, died of lung cancer Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Conroe, Texas, with his family at his side.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Pine Forest Baptist Church, 10537 U.S. Highway 190, Livingston, Texas, officiated by Reverend Guy Weathers and Pastor Larry Shine. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the church. He will be laid to rest at Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas.
One of the Builders for Christ group’s greatest asset, Dale was born in Plainview, Texas, on Feb. 5, 1935, to Herschel Brown and Irene Gentry Brown. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He lived in numerous places throughout Texas during his life and for 25 years lived in Mineral Wells. He worked for Central Freight Lines for 28 years, where he earned the distinguished award for 10 years of safe driving. He then became an owner-operator of his own truck for nine years before retiring in 2004. He was a faithful member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Onalaska, a Lions Club member and probably most notable as a Builders for Christ builder.
He is survived by his spouse, Betty Phillips Brown, of Onalaska; daughters, Cindy Brown Sanders and husband, Mike, of Conroe, and Toni Dale Brown. of Willis, Texas; son, Matt Allen Brown and wife, Barbara, of Valley Mills, Texas; sister, Betty McGee, of Plainview; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who love him and will miss their Grandaddy.
