Jo Ella Banks

WICHITA FALLS – Jo Ella Banks, 83, died Jan. 29, 2012.

Service is 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reggie Coe officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Jo Ella was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Slaton, Texas, to Thomas (Bunk) and Maggie (Grantham) Hearn. She moved early in life to Salesville, where she attended elementary school and graduated from Mineral Wells High School. She met and married the love of her life, Harry Lee Banks, on June 12, 1948, in Mineral Wells. They celebrated 63 years together until his death in December 2011. They settled in Wichita Falls, Texas, where they raised a family and made lifelong friends. She worked as a secretary for Taystee Bakery and Wichita Cigar and Tobacco Company until her retirement.

She loved the Lord and grew up in a family that sang in quartets at revivals. She made sure that her light shined for the Lord throughout her life, being an inspiration to her children and grandchildren (who lovingly called her Ami). She was active in her church until physical limitations proved too difficult. Needlework, quilting, fishing, cooking and family time were some of her greatest pleasures.

Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Sherry and Steve Canell, and Allison and Steve Anderson; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Kim Canell, Jessica and Aaron Bennett, Drs. Jahue and Kelly Anderson, and Micah and Ashley Anderson; and great-grandchildren, Zachary and Natalie Canell, Alyssa, Aaron and Arianna Bennett, and Ryan and Emma Stott.

She was recently preceded in death by her husband, Harry Banks. Other family members preceding her in death are her parents; two sisters, Myrl Kirby and Mildred King; and one brother. CT (Buddy) Hearn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Church of Wichita Falls Building Fund or Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lunnscolonial.com.
