Richard L. Campbell

Richard L. Campbell, 62, of Savoy, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 27, 2012, at a Sherman, Texas, hospital after fighting a brave battle of his medical condition.

Service is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Gordon with Morgan Malone officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Marion Cemetery in Strawn. Viewing is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.

Richard was born in Sulpher Springs, Texas, on Aug. 9, 1949, to Lavelia Ruth Dyer and Paul Franklin Campbell Jr. He graduated from Gordon High School in 1967, and went on to attend

Weatherford Junior College where he received an associate's degree in Business. He served with the Army in Vietnam and received an honorable medical discharge in 1970. After returning home, he went on to have a career in western retail for 25 years. His career took him and his family to Mineral Wells, Lubbock, Odessa and Weatherford. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, football and playing golf.

Richard is survived by his wife of nearly six years, Rebecca; daughter, Missy Phipps and husband, Lowell, of Flower Mound, Texas; sons, Lee Campbell, of Weatherford, Talton Campbell and wife, Marie, of Weatherford; and daughter, Stacy Tilley, of Hawkins, Texas; aunt, Ruby Fae Finch, of Gordon; brother, Lindell Foster and wife, Suzanne, of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Carolyn Hamilton and husband, Philip, of Odessa, Texas; brother, Nelson Campbell and wife, Paula, of Gordon; grandchildren, Kyle, Amy, Natalie, Madeline, Adysson and Rocco Phipps and Bree and Tristan Griffith; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Lester and Lee Dyer; stepfather, Bill Simmons; brother, Alton Foster; sister, Elaine Templeton; and daughter, Rhonda Campbell.
