LaVerna Edith Johnson, 77, passed away Jan. 30. She was born in Kay County, Okla., to Ray Clarence and Goldie Edith (Vaughn) Rollins.
LaVerna worked as a licensed practical nurse.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Edzel W. Johnson; sisters, Agatha and Norma; brother, David; and stepson, Gary.
She is survived by her: son Richard Johnson, and wife Kelly; daughter Dorothy Smith, and husband Robert; brothers, Lester and Owen Rollins; sisters, Donna Lesemann and Linda Reese; grandchildren, Quinn Johnson, Steven Smith, Kenny Smith, Robby Smith and Charlie Potter; and numerous other loved ones.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Ponca City, 900 W. Prospect, Ponca City, Okla., 74601.
A graveside burial of ashes will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City, Okla. A meal will be provided following the service at 12 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Newkirk, located at 9th and Walnut. Friends may leave condolences at www.vondelsmithmortuary.com.
