Charles Roden, 82, of Mineral Wells, passed away Jan. 16, 2013. He was born in Sweetwater, the son of Luther and Ethel Roden.
Charles received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech; using the degree he received, he worked for Cantex a while and then Perry Equipment Corporation which he eventually retired from.
He loved the “arts”; he painted and was very proficient at it. He was a former president of the Mineral Wells Art Association, and very proud of the association's work for young and seasoned artists in the Mineral Wells area. Charles leaves behind his wife of 58 years, June Roden; son: Mark Roden and daughter-in-law Joana; daughter: Karen Roden; sister: Patsy and husband, David Mitchell their children, Joe, Chip, Carole and Donna and families together with many friends.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Visitation will be Jan. 18, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church at 10 a.m.; burial will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery. The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church.
